RAAR is thrilled to present a split EP of two of our favorite artists working today. Peder Mannerfelt's 'Try Try Try' and 'Cognitive Dissonance' from Walter Gross share a lyrical, chugging, personal and ferociously honest quality that was immediately resonant with RAAR's ethos of releasing music that is fresh and unique, beautiful and raw.
Swedish producer Peder Mannerfelt is as adept a master of chaotic electronic noise as he is at ravey dance floor-fillers and melodic pop hits. 'Try Try Try' falls somewhere in the middle: a call to creative action, an internal dialogue exposed, a thumping, grinding menace. 'This time, I'm not gonna try to impress you, this time I'm just gonna try and look casual,' promises Mannerfelt as machines thwang and stromp on. Oscillating between earnestness and tongue in cheek self deprecation, this track was immediately beloved by RAAR's A&R team and we couldn't be more excited to be putting this music in the universe.
Baltimore-based Walter Gross is a multimedia artist, working in different mediums with the same goal: pushing the boundaries of concept and execution, catharsis and self-expression. This is evident in the glorious 'Cognitive Dissonance' as a slow gallop, a ferocious chant, a groovy exorcism. This release is RAAR's second rodeo with Gross, his first release with the label being the LP 'Rippers Only', released in May, 2019. We are ecstatic fans of the methods and meanings behind his work and are delighted to work with him again.
